- actor, musician, teacher, graduate of GITIS, laureate of a television competition in Jurmala and laureate of the Magic Crystal vocal competition. In Montreal, he participated in the musicals Ragtime and The Phantom of the Opera, took part in operettas and opera productions.
Igor Portnoi is a graduate of the State Academy for Theatrical Arts in Moscow, where he performed the leading roles in the numerous productions, including Judas in «Jesus Christ Superstar».
In 1992 Igor made his new home in Canada. His North American credits include performances in «The Phantom of The Opera» in Vancouver and the workshop of the musical «Ragtime» in Toronto, appearances on CBC and BBC. He can be heard on the recording of «Songs from the Musical Ragtime» and two solo albums «Russians on Broadway» and «Let’s get together».
In December of 2002 Igor has received a Green Card from US Government as recognition of his extraordinary talent.
In 2008 he was invited to play Cogsworth in the Stage Entertainment production of the musical «Beauty and The Beast» in Moscow and participate in the first ever Disney cast recording of the musical in Russian. Igor played Don Alehandro in «Zorro», Max Detweiler in «The Sounds of Music», Garry in «Mamma Mia», Ben Gunn and Blind Pew in «The Treasure Island». In 2014 Igor has returned to play Cogsworth in «Beauty and the Beast». In 2016 Igor joined the cast of «Cinderella» as Lord Pinkelton. Igor has participated in «Disney in concert» in 2016 as one of eight Russian musical stars.
Igor is a creator and director of the Theatre-Cabaret «Monmartr» in Moscow. He is a renowned Russian voice over artist featured in Disney’s «Lady and the Trump 2», «Barney and his friends» and many others cartoons as well as the translator from English to Russian. Igor has performed with his shows as a headliner with many major cruise lines such as RCCL, NCL, Holland America, Celebrity, Seabourn, Chrystal, Radisson and Silver Seas. Igor just has been invited to join the Stage Entertainment production of «Ghost the Musical» in Moscow for 2017-2018 season.
